Dorfling & Wikje

Tokara – Stellenbosch

What do you do when a close friend asks you to be her bridesmaid and on-the-day coordinator? You do both 🙂 – it was such a joy and honour to be next to Wikje’s side in both these roles.

Wikje and Dorfling got married in the beautiful Moederkerk in Stellenbosch and their reception was at the restaurant at Tokara Wine Estate. During this time Covid was still a big reality in our lives. Two weeks before their wedding the restrictions were adjusted to only allow 50 guests and a curfew of 21:00. And you won’t believe it, the day after their wedding President Cyril Ramaphosa spoke and everything was closed!

The weather was the other challenge, but God was so faithful and the rain came at the perfect time. Though freezing – the most beautiful moments were captured by Migneon.

It was one of the best culinary experiences I had; the food was exquisite, and the ambience, the service, the location, and the amazing people to share it with – all came together to create a unique experience I will never forget!

Wikje looked like a dream in her dress made by Alana van Heerden. The bridesmaids’ dresses complemented each other stunningly (and we loved the furry shawls that kept us snug and warm).

The serviettes were a family team effort; Wikje drew the flowers, her brother Charl converted it into a design and their mom handled the printing and making of the serviettes (she also added a hand-stitched detail on EACH serviette – so stunning).

The beautiful flowers were also a team effort with Wikje’s mom and Alida who executed it. I loved the touches of blue (Wikje’s favourite colour), white and gold. The blueberries on the table looked beautiful and doubled as a great snack 😉

The time for dancing was not long, but oh boy did we dance and made the best of the short time. We ended the evening with a sparkle send-off and goodbyes.
