Christo & Sarie

Landtscap – Stellenbosch

A perfect summer’s day set the scene for Sarie and Christo’s wedding. They got married in the NG Moederkerk in Stellenbosch, with their reception taking place at Landtscap.

The Moederkerk is more than 300 years old and was founded from the Groote Kerk in Cape Town, thereby making it the second oldest church in South Africa. The bride and her bridesmaids got dressed one block away from the church in a penthouse and were able to observe the guests through the big glass walls as they arrived. It was also exciting for me, as I could see them from the church steps.

As they walked up the street, the shared excitement from passers-by was clearly visible as they admired the beautiful bridal party. Sarie looked beyond gorgeous! She could easily have walked straight off the cover of any wedding magazine! I liked how she combined a bit of retro and modern in her look, with her mermaid style dress with its unconventional lace, a ponytail and triangular earrings. The old church truly added to the beauty of the ceremony, with the organ playing and church bells ringing – so special.

At Landtscap, guests arrived to a gigantic harvest table and multiple drink stations, fully stocked with beer, gin, ciders, wine – basically anything you can think of! The couple made sure to have something for everyone. The afternoon was filled with live music by Jan Hendrik and guests enjoyed themselves as the sun slowly set.

The table decor and stationary were done by Pretty in Stains. The flowers were made up of various hues of delicate pinks with a mix of proteas, roses, tulips greenery and dahlias. Dusk pink serviettes, softly knotted at the top, and chairs all pushed in at an angle, created such a stylish look! I liked the simplicity of the stationary, yet it was so stylish with beautiful black lettering printed on white cardboard. Every guest received a personalised menu in their home language, also including their name – how unique!

One of my favourite moments was when Christo stood up to make his speech. All of the boys came to sit in front of him, ready to start their playful taunting. However, Sarie also pulled up her chair to join them! After all, his speech was meant for her!

It was a treat to work with Tammy, the team from Landtscap and the lovely Two Chefs team! I hope to do many more weddings here in the future.

Enjoy the stunning photos by Matthew Carr.
