Haskerville and The Refinery – Somerset West
Joel and Sarah got married on a beautiful summer’s day between the vineyards and mountains on Haskerville. Their backdrop was truly magical and the flower arch at the front served as a stunning work of art! The church service was so special, with shouts of joy and praise travelling over the landscape.
I had a lot of fun adding the finishing touches to the flowers that decorated the aisle. I became so wet from sprinkling the flowers a few times to keep them fresh, but the coolness was so welcome! During the service, keeping everything in place at the communion and registry table became quite the adventure when the breeze picked up. My timing had to be just right, so that I could disappear the moment before they came up the stairs. After the signing of the registry, guests welcomed the newlyweds by sending beautiful, purple bougainvillea petals flying through the air. All the guests moved to the terrace where Jules and his team welcomed everyone with yummy platters. Guests enjoyed the afternoon sun, good wine and conversation and the younger crowd had so much fun with the lawn games! It was lovely to work with Deidre from Haskerville, to ensure that everything was in its place.
The reception was held at The Refinery in Somerset West. The hall was filled with three super long tables all covered in white tablecloths and white chair covers; this really created a stunning base and made everything look seamlessly elegant. The bridal table was against a brick wall covered in fairly lights. The flowers and décor complemented each other so well and created a lovely atmosphere. I loved the chalkboard elements; table setting canvas, table numbers and cute chalk hearts with each person’s name on.
One of my favourite moments was when Sarah’s dad gave his speech and began to sing the old hymn, “It is well with my soul,” and all the guests joined in – this was truly special. The dance floor was outside and how fun was it not to dance under the stars! Jules and Michelle did such a great job with the food and everyone enjoyed it tremendously. Set-down was a breeze with all of the bridesmaids and groomsman jumping in to help!
