Helderberg Farm – Somerset West
As we were getting ready for the final handover, the heavens were preparing for rain. An icy breeze welcomed us to the wedding rehearsal on the Friday, yet the couple’s unwavering faith kept worry at bay. They had their heart set on tying the knot in their dream setting and were convinced that no plan B would be needed. Great was our relief when the sun made its appearance on the Saturday, to bless them with the most perfect weather on their special day. It broke through the big forest trees to accompany the joy that wove through the air.
The simplicity and elegance of their table settings were simply striking. The fine floral napkins, herbs in rustic clay pots, ghost chairs and countless penny gums (eucalyptus) were some of my favourite décor pieces!
It was quite a challenge to get everything set up and ready by 11am, but with the help of their family and the waitstaff we made it! The couple truly embraced the natural elements at their disposal and incorporated every little detail to complement their unique style. Two hundred meters of bunting were not only strategically used to guide guests to the venue, but also created a merry atmosphere at the reception. The food was also a highlight, as guests could indulge in light treats of popcorn and fruit after the ceremony, while a charcuterie platter made a tasty starter. Mains included cold meats and the most amazing salads. Dessert consisted of wedding cake, which was made by Laura’s gran, and handmade ice cream by Ice Cream Community – yummy! Jacob Swann added to the relaxed atmosphere with live music and kept the guests entertained throughout the day.
The whole day was filled with so much joy and love from their family and friends. The feeling of true community was tangible and it was beautiful to witness the adoration these two have for each other.
